Yippeeee....It's Christmas

Greetings everyone. I can't believe how this year has galloped past, it seems only the other day that we where in Coff's Harbour celebrating Christmas and now we get to do it all over again!!

Something I have noticed as I have grown older (yes the grey hairs seem to be reproducing at a rapid rate) is how people forget to enjoy Christmas. This happens because there is a feeling that Christmas has become over commercialised and a bit of a money trap. Which is interesting because we still allow ourselves to be commercialised and we still spend our money. I wonder why we do that?

Something I say frequently to clients is that our pain begins when we argue with reality. And this is so applicable here. I sit and listen to people muttering about Christmas, yet Christmas is real & it isn't going away so.... why not accept it? And see it for what it is.....family, friends, lots of good cheer and a wonderful time to be together.

Who cares about the commercialisation? Who cares about any of that stuff when the important stuff is underneath it all....family & friends. Hmmm, I just answered the top question, we still allow commercialisation to happen because unconsiously we realise it is about family & friends but what I think is needed is for us to be more conscious about Christmas. See it for what it is, realise what is underneath it all and love every minute of it anyway!

Recently someone said to me that since listening to me and learning to be more present and 'in now', she feels so Christmassy and is loving every moment. It's been years since she enjoyed Christmas this much!

This is the key, stop listening to your mind which will help you to find all the hassles of Christmas and why it's hard to enjoy and spend some time being present. Stop and smell the tinsel! Really look at the Chrissie lights! Do your best to see the wonderful gifts that Christmas gives us every single year...fellowship, friends, family. It's a celebration of life!

And the best part....we get to do it again and again and again, year in and year out...what a gift....how much better can that be?

Depression

Following on from last weeks blog, the topic I would like to spend a bit of time on today is depression.  Depression is something I find to be very interesting and to be honest is a condition I believe to be created totally by 'The Mind'.

Having worked with people with depression, one of the most profound things a client said to me once is that I taught her not to believe her thoughts....she did not realise she had a choice over which thoughts to believe.

Yes.....this is the simple truth about life, we are choosing our thoughts all the time and more importantly choosing which thoughts to believe.

And this is part of mind's insanity that I referred to last week....who in their right mind would consciously, and I use this word very deliberately.....consciously choose thoughts like....

I'm no good, everybody hates me, I hate myself, I'm useless, I can't get anything right, nothing I do works, they are better than me because they have a smart house/car/clothes, I'll be happy when I have a job, I'll be happy when I have more money, I'll be happy when I'm doing what I want to do, I need to succeed to be accepted, people don't like me because I'm different, if you where normal like me you would be okay, if you weren't white, black, yellow, purple, green, blue, gay you would be okay.....I don't have to carry on, you get the picture.

Surely these 'thoughts' can't honestly be conscious?

Has anyone stopped to question these thoughts?

Can you see from the above 'thoughts' that the mind is slightly insane?

Who says I am better than you? Who says you need to be wealthy to be happy? Who says you need 'stuff' in order for your life to better? Who says you are useless? Why hate yourself???

The sad thing about thoughts like these is that they start us on the road to depression and it becomes harder to shake ourselves out of our sadness. Which is why it becomes so important to question our thoughts because when you question your thoughts you stop the mind in it's tracks and 'it' has to become conscious about whatever 'it' is thinking about.

It is the nature of mind to focus on whatever we feed it.....yes.....we have a conscious choice to feed our mind and whenever we use this choice consciously we can start to free ourselves but we need to become conscious of the thoughts we are choosing to believe.

Byron Katie (founder of The Work) who suffered from chronic depression for over a decade has this to say about depression: "I discovered that when I believed my thoughts, I suffered, but that when I didn’t believe them, I didn’t suffer, and that this is true for every human being. Freedom is as simple as that. I found that suffering is optional. I found a joy within me that has never disappeared, not for a single moment. That joy is in everyone, always"

Life is really very simple, it is the Mind that makes it complicated, combating depression starts in questioning your thoughts.

The Mind

I have always believed in the power of the mind. Something I used to frequently say to my husband in Zimbabwe was "don't say it or think it" because it will become true (yes and half the time he used to think I was nuts!!) But slowly he began to listen to me because he started to see a direct correlation in some of the things he spoke about that came about in his life and he started to see a connection.

Of course because of this I personally began to almost 'revere' the mind and see it as something all powerful and I truly began to belief if I could 'master' my mind I could master my life! Ha! Ha! I honestly had this perspective that it was like the magic genie inside me that could give me all that I wanted if I just learnt to ask the right questions!! I know, I know.....sad hey but keep with me, the story gets better!

So when we got to Australia and I wasn't the happiest bunny in the world lo and behold I stumbled upon 'The Secret' and the 'Law of Attraction' which promised me if I mastered these two things, I would be happy again and better still I could have the life I have always dreamed about - yup you got it, fast cars, big houses, lots of travel...hmm, come to think about it...not so bothered about the houses and cars but I would like the travel!! Ha! ha! I look back and laugh at myself now but needless to say, this sent me charging off on this journey to understand my mind better.

And the profoundly interesting thing that I have found is that 'the mind' stuff that is marketed in the media, the internet, the self development industry (the list goes on) about "The Power of Your Mind" is largely misleading and often absolute doo doo!

And here comes the part that has completely blown me away on my journey to understanding my mind and it isn't what you think - are you ready?????

The Mind is our problem - ha ha what a joke!!!! How many self development companies - myself included for a while (because I was unconsciously listening to the doo doo!) until I began to wake up and am prepared to admit that I had it wrong - have built huge emphires promising people pie in the sky stuff about teaching them how to 'master' this great weapon so that they can have whatever they want, it's very amusing (and very sad!)

When we listen to our thoughts we suffer, when we question our thoughts we give ourselves freedom. Our minds tell us that we will be happy when we have this, that or the other thing, our minds tell us that we can't be happy because this happened or that happened.

When we live in our mind we live in pain.....yes the mind is a highly developed tool that if used correctly can help us live happier lives but it is a part of the whole - NOT THE MAIN! The whole that we are is mind, body and soul or if you like spirit.

What happens in mainstream society, particularly in the Western world is that we live almost completely in our mind and forget about the other two parts to our whole. And this is the important part, when we believe our mind we stop connecting to our essence, our spirit and we stop living 'in now' and herein lies the rub - the only thing we have is now!

The Mind worries about the future and the past and convinces us that we need this and that and that.....and off we rush to get this and that and that and what do we do....we overlook what we already have always rushing onto the next damn thing. It's like we are in the grip of insanity which just seems to get more insane!

So the next time you find yourself thinking how much better your life would be if.....wake up....your life is already good....you are alive at least!

Making Time!

Firstly I have to say I'm sorry, a while ago I posted a blog stating that I was back in full swing, I then wrote a couple more posts and then nothing - shocking behaviour with no excuse except that time seemed to be against me!! Well, this is what I thought until recently.

I kept saying to myself I must update my blog, I must....., I must...... the list was growing and nothing was happening until suddenly I realised (I know sounds stupid!) that nothing was going to happen until I took nike's approach and just did it! I know this sounds obvious but how many of us beat ourselves up with all the things we 'should' do, the list is endless and probably runs along the lines of:

I should update my blog (hee! hee!)
I should spend more time with my husband/wife/partner
I should do something romantic with my husband/wife/partner
I should do more with the kids
I should paint the house
I should clean the garden
I should.............................bla bla bla.

The problem with "I shoulds" is they just cause us stress! Inner peace and harmony go out the window and in comes beat yourself up mentally about why you are such a failure and never achieve anything!

And the key to it all I have learnt is 'scheduling' I am becoming a master at looking at my life and streamline the parts I don't enjoy so that I have more time to enjoy the parts that I do. I guess you could call it becoming conscious about my life - which incidentally is the monthly topic we are covering in The Freedom Academy.

We waste so much time thinking of what we 'should' do instead of waking up to how we are living and then consciously deciding to clear out the stuff we don't need so that we can create the space to do the things we love. From a Universal perspective nature hates a vacuum, think about it, if you clear out your old clothes it takes no time at all and new clothes appear to fill up the space you have created by chucking out the old clothes. It's incredible!

It's the same with life, inner happiness comes when we are doing the things we enjoy and more importantly spending time with the people we love. And on my journey to finding peace and contentment I have begun to realise that if I don't create the space to enjoy the things I like doing, everything will just keep being "I must" or "I should" and my life will pass and I will look back and wonder what happened (and more importantly why didn't I achieve anything!!!)

Part of achieving inner peace is about looking at your life and deciding what works and what doesn't. For example recently I decided my pantry cupboard was driving me nuts - it was a shambles. I have lived with it like this for months and every night when I cook I tell myself "I should clear this up". Oh....the wasted time I have spend shifting through spices rummaging around to find what I want.....muttering to myself.....you get the picture....until finally I decided ENOUGH!! Clearly my pantry was not working for me....

Now I could have gone on for several more months telling myself "I should" but instead I have cleared this space! I have since bought containers and everything is categorised and ordered, my pantry is now a dream and cooking takes half the time - and this is what I am talking about - clearing up your space gives you time to go on a picnic (because you can find the picnic basket - phew!) and gives you mental peace -really it's a must!

And this is why it is so important to wake up because when we 'clear out' our lives, we make way for more good to come.

The Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction

My personal journey in learning to understand myself better really began when I became interested in the Law of Attraction. I was fascinated by what I was told, especially the part where I was told how I could manipulate this law to get whatever I wanted. What a gift....if I could understand this one Law I could have anything I wanted I thought! Looking back I laugh at my naivety!

What I have learnt is that everything is back to front. I was taught that the key to the Law of Attraction was to focus on 'feeling good' the more I felt good, the more good I would attract into my life, if I felt bad I was attracting 'bad energy'. Sounds easy enough (ha! ha!) so I religiously worked at feeling good but still the things I wanted weren't manifesting....what was I doing wrong?

Determined to find the answer I have finally come to understand that it is nothing to do with feeling good. You can feel as good as you like, if you do not work on your internal beliefs, you will never alter your core vibration. If you don't internally believe you are worthy, this will be where your vibrational frequency is set and this is the level you will manifest at. The interesting thing to understand here is that 90% of the "Law of Attraction" teachers, so called experts, don't truly understand the Law they are teaching you either! They are making money 'spinning' us something we all want to know!

Possibly the best tip I can give you is the wonderful thing about the Law of Attraction is that it is working all the time, it never stops, so when something isn't manifesting, it's a wonderful opportunity to go back inside and work out what resistance is in you because something inside you is stopping the flow of good coming to you. We are actually working in reverse, when something isn't mainfesting, it is because we are stopping the flow of good, it's nothing to do with attracting bad energy! In short, don't blame outside, come back inside! And begin to understand that the Law of Attraction is a great barometer for you to work on yourself and learn to love self.

The other tip is that loving self is really the key....all we do in life is to get approval and love from others because really deep down we do not love ourselves.....herein lies the rot....if you don't love yourself this is where your vibration sits.....you are saying to the Universe you are not worthy and this is where you will stay.

And finally the secret of attraction really lies in learning to love now, something that sounds simple enough but in actual fact is quite the opposite to achieve.

Man's mind is so focused in the past and in the future. We believe that we will be happy when......, utopia is over there, never right under our feet. We hold onto beliefs and thoughts that keep us in the past....."my ??? told me I would never amount to anything", "I've done bad things in my past so I am a bad person" even if we have learnt the lessons of our past and stopped 'being bad' we hold onto these beliefs. All this does is keep us in an internal belief state of 'I'm not worthy'. Think about it...."when I have my car I will be happy" says clearly you are not happy, and the same goes with believing old thoughts and patterns.

The gold is in learning that the only thing we truly have is now. The past is gone and the future hasn't even come. And the real secret of attraction is learning to love every minute of now because in truth that is all you have, the rest is an illusion....incredible isn't it....and so obviously simple we completely overlook it. We stay obsessed in the past and the future and completely overlook now. Learning to live in now and become a lover of what is real is the key that unlocks the door to freedom.

Setting Things Straight

For those of you who have read my book you will know that I believe network marketing; if understood and worked correctly is a business model that makes a lot of sense.

I wrote about it extensively in chapter 8 of my book because my wish was to dispel a lot of the untruths and misunderstanding around this industry and try and raise peoples awareness as to the wonderful opportunity it can present to some.

I did this because sadly I see many people trapped in jobs they hate, sacrificing their time for money, sacrificing time with their families and loved ones because they don’t know any better. I also see people being dramatically affected by the economical downturn and the drought who don’t know what to do or how to ‘ride out’ this current situation.

It is for the above reasons that I believe network marketing can be a great model that can assist a lot of people. Our society is very conditioned to ‘get a job’ yet many people would like to leave their jobs but don’t have the capital to start a business or the knowledge of what to do. Again, this is why I support network marketing....not only do you have low start up costs, you have phenomenal support from mentors and business people wanting to help you succeed.

The sad thing is that network marketing is an industry that is surrounded by suspicion and mistrust only because people do not understand it properly.

Why I am writing this is because I want to clear something up.....I am involved in a network marketing opportunity called Mona Vie. I am involved in this for two reasons....one, not only do I know first hand that it is a wonderful company whose generosity and integrity continue to amaze me....but two, I believe that if I am a strong supporter of network marketing I must also be involved in a network.

I have said regularly to people that I walk my talk....how could I write about why I believe in this industry but when asked if I am involved in a network marketing opportunity answer ‘no’....it doesn’t really stack up does it? If I believe in network marketing....I must be involved in the industry as well.

Recently I chatted to someone who had the perception that I had written my book to convince people to become involved in my network marketing opportunity......which could not be further from the truth. I wrote about why I believe it is an industry that makes sense, only because I have a lot of experience in small and home based businesses and wanted to explain the differences I see and why I believe some business models make sense and why some are becoming outdated.

My passion is about freeing people.....whether this is emotional or financial freedom......I see network marketing as a wonderful start on the road to freedom because it lays the foundation of knowledge one needs to succeed in any business.

Some of you will be interested in knowing more about Mona Vie and that’s great. "I'm Back!"

Hi everyone

I haven’t blogged lately because I’ve been learning. I’ve been exploring the law of attraction on a deeper level whilst paying great attention to how it is playing out in my own life.

Here’s what I’ve found- honesty is best. I’ve always been honest. I like being honest. I’m known for being honest. But business is a game. I’ve realised through the companies I’ve trained and dealt with that their honesty is spun. Does this make them dishonest? I don’t know. What I do know is that I’ve woken up to the fact that I don’t like spin. I like plain old fashioned honesty and I’d fallen for the spin of others.

So I want to set the record straight. Not only do I teach people how to be financially free, I also help free them from their chains. I am a millionaire (on paper) but since the economic downturn I haven’t felt free so I’m changing that by selling three of my properties. When I do this I will no longer be a millionaire but I will have financial freedom in a way that is honest, respectful and responsible for me. This feels good and better than being a stressed out millionaire.

What I want to teach you is Freedom in whatever that means for you. I’ve always done this but since my personal revelation I’m even more fired up so you can expect honesty for honesty sake, integrity and respect in the greatest level I’m able to give it to you.

So I promise to not only help you to understand how to achieve financial freedom, I will help you free yourself from your old habits and old contioning and help you step into the life you love living!

My Books Here!

I haven't written anything for a while....life just seems to get in the way. And school holidays! I must admit I love school holidays, it's wonderful having the kids at home and just being able to chill a bit and do nothing. A wonderful break from the routine and hum drum of life. So sorry but whenever it's holidays, expect me to disappear!

I must admit I am really grateful that I am in a position that I can enjoy school holidays, which is why I have always worked from home. I'm one of those Mums that just loves being at home with her kids but I like making money as well and I think as a woman it's important. I watched my Mum give up her dreams to bring up my sisters and I. I will always be grateful for the wonderful job she did (naturally I would think so!!) but I know it was at a personal cost to herself and so I have always been determined not to follow in her footsteps. I honestly believe it is very important to be at home when you have children but I also think it is important to have your own interests. I think it sends a strong message to your children and as they grow up they expect the same for themselves.

I know I am probably annoying Mums who have had to go back to work and please don't get me wrong, I just choose to be at home and still make money and because I have always found it so easy to make money from home, it's something I am passionate about teaching people to do. I love teaching people how to use the Law of Attraction to create the income they want and maximize their results and create the life they dream of!

So anyone wanting to know how to start using the law of attraction and start a business from home, I suggest the first thing would be to look at obtaining my book......oh yes.....my book......I forgot - it's here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I've got so used to it taking forever that I forgot that I've finally got it from the publishers - can you believe it. I'm an author......it's all come together - giving birth to children was easier than writing a book and took less time but anyway, that's another story - my book is here and I'm having a book launch next week. It's so exciting!

How fasinating the Internet is!

I tell you, I am a total newbie at the internet - it's amazing to think that before I came to Australia the only thing I had ever done was download an email. In fact, just before we left Zimbabwe we finally got a telephone line that had a good enough connection for us to download emails - the internet - huuuugh - what was that?

It's amazing to think 5 years later I am sitting in a completely different country, have had a few more children and have an internet business - something that was so foregin to me a few years ago has now become how I earn my income. It really shows you the curve balls that life can throw you!

What has been even more interesting (and it's too long a story to go into here) I have been doing a lot of research lately into what makes a good website, the difference in websites, why some are successful and why some aren't and it has been a fascinating - the best part, I have learnt so much about websites and the internet.

I can honestly say it is a business model that is incredible and why people don't use it more as a way to make more income (even if it is just a couple of extra dollars a month!) is amazing!

In fact I am so impressed by what I have learnt that over the next few weeks I will be sharing a lot of the stuff that I have found out. The first thing I have learnt is:

When you are selling one product you need to use long sales copy - sales copy is the content you put onto your website. I'm writing this for people who probably don't know too much (like me) so those of you out there who are more advanced - sorry for the boring stuff!

One of the things I used to hate was stumbling onto pages that just went on forever and ever and ever! But I now know that statistically when selling one product, long copy always convinces people more than short copy. Now I understand it better I guess it makes sense. Think about it, whenever you are selling a product you usually get the chance to sit down with a person and speak to them for a good hour or so - this is the thinking behind long copy.

Equally so, I have stumbled upon sites with short copy and whilst I have been interested in what they have to offer, I haven't bought anything because I have always wanted to know more and because they do not offer anymore information I have not signed up or bought because I draw the conclusion that if they can't be bothered to give me more information, I can't be bothered to give them my details. Interesting isn't it?

Having gone on an internet search of what I like and dislike I have come up with the following conclusions:

I think the logic when selling one product should be to have a good balance of long and short! i.e. needs interesing information, to sound interesting, be longish i.e. no too long but not too short! It's a definite balance. I also love copy that speaks to you i.e. is like you are having a general conversation with someone - I hate copy that talks at you! I also think that copy that is conversational but in small sentences is entertaining and engaging - don't you just hate big chunks of paragraphs - it makes it so long to read and so tiring to look at!

One thing I think people who are selling on the internet forget is that we are all busy people! I want something that is convincing and entertaining to read, i.e. got bold's, italics, highlighting throughout but isn't long chunks of paragraphs. As I have children, I often start reading something - get interrupted, leave my computer, come back to it, read a bit more, get distracted, leave my computer, come back to it, read a bit more ....... get the picture? The content needs to be easy to read and easy to pick up if someone leaves it.

I also think that small sentences is mentally easier to look at - I know when I stumble upon something that is lots of small sentences I immediately think to myself "oh, this will be easy to read; I have a quick scan through". This is what you are wanting because once they start scanning they are usually in and will start to slow down and read what you have written! Whenever I hit upon a site with long copy and large paragraphs of content I honestly mentally groan and don't even bother! Even if I like the heading!

I also think it is a good idea to keep things simple - I have learnt in life the more simple you make things, the better it is for everyone! Don't complicate your work or copy because all you will do is complicate and confuse your clients!

Bonuses are also something you must include with your offer. Don't offer discounts or limited offers on the actual product because apparently people don't like this. Do offer bonuses that enhance your product but offer these as limited offers or one time only offers.

Don't put the price at the bottom - it needs to be embedded in the content because the idea is that you want people to read the letter to understand why they need it - if they find the price easily and it isn't what they would normally spend you loose them straight away. I have mixed feelings about this one - I know I often look for the price before I even read to see I can afford the thing - if I can and I like the look of the letter, then I read. I do think that people aren't stupid and I think trying to 'fool' them is a silly idea - so in this regard, perhaps do what you feel is best. I tend to think that honesty is the best policiy in everything so my approach is to come clean with the price and give people the benefit of the doubt.

I think that's it - no doubt there will be more that I will remember a bit later but I have to go - one thing you can do is have a look at my front page of my website - I have just revamped the copy there following a lot of these principles and would love some feedback.

Next blog I will go into writing sales copy more and some other things that are important but like I say, right now I have to dash, got to get dinner on the go! (ho hum the joys of motherhood!)

Do you want more money?

Our society today is completely governed by money.

Think about it, everything we do is driven around money, the only reason why we get out of bed in the morning to go to work is to earn money! We need money to buy food, clothes, educate ourselves, our children, buy cars, houses, keep our pets etc, it's mind boggling what a strangle hold money has on us all!

Let me ask you something - if you didn't have to worry about money, would you be doing what you are doing right now? Would you be working in your current job? Would you be living the life you are currently living?

Amazingly, most would answer NO to all 3 questions not realising that whilst money controls us it is the one thing that is the most misunderstood. I have come to understand that what stops us from having the lifestyle and the money that we deserve is the thoughts that we have about money.

Money is just energy and money is something I am passionate about helping people to understand, for some reason we see money as:

evil
dirty
bad

The list goes on but in truth when understood correctly money is actually a good thing. It creates hope and prosperity, you can do so much for mankind when you have money.

When you have money you can stop focusing on you and begin focusing on us. It's a wonderful thing. What creates the wrong impression about money is how people use money. People use money to control others, manipulate and compete, they focus on lack and limitation, believing that there is a limited supply so their greed overtakes them and causes them to value money over mankind.

What needs to be understood is that their mindset is poor, money is not the problem - they are using their money to create heartache, they are the problem. We need to see that we are surrounded by abundance, there is a wealth of opportunity and prosperity everywhere, when we begin to think correctly and most imporantly, start using our minds correctly we will begin see that it is easy to make money.

I have always been in pursuit of my own success, however, no matter how hard I worked or how hard I tried, I just never seemed to be 'getting there'. I had to be doing something wrong, so I began studying wealthy people but more importantly wealthy people who had given back to society and I began to understand that the link I was missing was how I thought about money!
